@SearchingHighwithLo Hi, I am Lauren Washington, my friends call me Lo, and online you can find me at @SearchingHighwithLo. I am originally from Atlanta, but Houston has been home for the past ten years and honestly I cannot imagine being anywhere else. I started my page in 2021 — my daughter had just turned one, the world was still in the middle of COVID, and I needed a creative outlet. My husband and I had never stopped exploring the city even through all of it, so I decided to put myself out there and turn that love for discovery into something that could help other people do the same. Five years later I cover food, nightlife, lifestyle, and family — but what I am most passionate about is neighborhood staples, hidden gems, and shining a light on small businesses, especially Black-owned ones, that deserve so much more attention than they get. Houston is rich in culture, food, beauty, and things to do — there is literally something for everyone and always somewhere new to explore. People from outside the city think Houston is just a party scene without much diversity, and I have made it my mission to change that one post at a time. I fell in love with this city the moment I got here. My page exists so that everyone who follows me can do exactly the same.
