@HoustonsGotSpice Hi, I’m Christina Autry, also known as @houstonsgotspice. I was born in Houston, bounced between here and New Orleans, and eventually made Houston my permanent home. My passion for Houston food started with a group of friends who love international cultures & cuisines, and who were involved with refugee work in Houston. Exploring the city with them made me realize that Houston had one of the most extraordinary culinary landscapes in the country, and not enough people knew about it. So in 2018 I created @houstonsgotspice while teaching in HISD full time. My focus became restaurants, cultural experiences, and anything in Houston I think more people should know about. What I want most is for people to step outside their usual bubble and have an unexpectedly great experience that makes them want to keep exploring. Houston has absolutely spoiled me with how much diversity and culture we have here. People outside this city think the food scene stops at BBQ and Tex-Mex, and I’ve made it my mission to prove them wrong, one post at a time.
